Ultimate Pool Masters Finals Night - The Stats

After the completion of 60 matches, played across 20 live televised sessions, the 2021 Apply Mortgages Ultimate Pool Masters is down to its final four, with Phil Harrison, Josh Kane, Simon Fitzsimmons and Rob Wharne the only cueists still on course for the prestigious title and a £10,000 payday this Monday night on FreeSports.

How have the finalists fared, though, with various aspects of their game?

Break Success Rate (Legal break where at least one object ball is potted)

Simon Fitzsimmons 80% (16 out of 20)

Rob Wharne 63.6% (14 out of 22)

Josh Kane 59.1% (13 out of 22)

Phil Harrison 57.1% (12 out of 21)

It is clear that one of Fitzsimmons’ most dangerous attributes is his break-off. “The Bouncer” has legally potted at least a ball off his break 16 times out of 20, putting him as a clear leader amongst all four finalists.

Break Clearances

Simon Fitzsimmons 9 - includes a golden break (from 20 breaks)

Josh Kane 8 – includes a golden break (from 22 breaks)

Rob Wharne 8 (from 22 breaks)

Phil Harrison 6 (from 21 breaks)

Fitzsimmons has capitalised on his powerful and accurate break shots, leading the overall break clearances chart with nine (including one golden break)

Kane and Wharne are not far behind, though, with both chalking up eight from 22 racks.

Frames Won with The Break

Josh Kane 72.7% (16/22)

Simon Fitzsimmons 70% (14/20)

Rob Wharne 63.6% (14/22)

Phil Harrison 52.4% (11/21)

However, it’s not always possible to clear up even if you produce a great break-off.

A little bit like a darts player throwing, or a tennis player serving, first, Kane narrowly leads the four finalists on the percentage of frames won with the break.

Reverse Clearance Opportunities (when opponent has broken dry or illegally)

Phil Harrison 6 from 7

Josh Kane 6 from 8

Simon Fitzsimmons 5 from 9

Rob Wharne 4 from 11

You may have noticed that former world champion Harrison was fourth in all the previous categories, but it is a very different story when it comes to reverse clearance opportunities.

From the seven times that an opponent has either broken dry or illegally against him during this tournament, Harrison has reverse cleared an incredible six times. Kane is not far behind having converted six of his eight opportunities.
