Professional snooker player and 2018 Masters Champion Mark Allen will temporarily switch cuesport disciplines when he makes his Ultimate Pool debut in the ongoing Players Championship during the weekend of the 3rd & 4th September.
Live and exclusive on ultimatepool.tv, the six-time ranking event winner is set to feature in group five of the unique 48-player Ultimate Pool professional ranking event.
Allen has been placed in an intriguing six-player group, and will face arguably the greatest small table 8-ball pool player of all-time – reigning six-time world champion Michael Hill.
The Northern Irishman is also scheduled to play compatriots Ronan McCarthy, one of the most successful money players ever, and Emma Cunningham, a four-time world women’s champion.
Former International Masters finalist Eddie Barker and current World Under-23 Champion Luke Gilbert complete Allen’s fixture card in what is a tasty group.
All six contestants will compete in the hectic round robin on Saturday, playing each other in quickfire races to six frames against the clock on one main arena table. The top four players at the end of the day will qualify for Sunday’s knockout phase; following the group final on Sunday night, the last player standing will advance to November’s eight-player Finals Weekend.
Previous group winners Karl Boyes, Chris Melling and Simon Fitzsimmons have already secured their slots.
‘The Pistol’ is no stranger to the pressurised 8-ball pool arena. In 2015 he represented his country at the Nations Cup in Killarney, where he reached the semi-finals of the singles event.
Allen will be the second high-profile snooker player to take to the Ultimate Pool arena that week, as four-time world professional snooker and 2006 WEPF World 8-Ball Pool Champion Mark Selby once again teams up with Gareth Potts for the Pairs Cup.
The tight-knit duo, who last year memorably won a group via a historic three-way 6-red shootout, headline week nine of the tournament on Monday 29th August live on FreeSports TV (UK viewers) and ultimatepool.tv (international viewers).
