Brennan Gets on a Roll in Week 17

Declan Brennan overcame a slow start, winning 15 consecutive frames on his way to winning Week 17 of the ultimatepool.tv Masters and advancing to the last 32.

Former Pro Series event winner Brennan keeps the ball rolling for Northern Irish pool after a memorable few weeks for the national side and fellow countryman Ronan McCarthy.

In the opening match of the night, Keith Warren defeated Daniel Batkin 6-4 in an edgy but entertaining affair to reach the weekly final.

Brennan started the night in Newcastle-under-Lyme as the strong favourite to qualify, but quickly found himself in a bit of bother as first round opponent Patrick McLaughin played beautifully to open up a 3-0 lead and suggest early signs of a shock.

However, number three ranked professional Brennan soon found his groove, stringing together eight frames on the spin, a run that included two reverse clearances and three break clearances.

‘The Destroyer’ kept that sequence going in the final against Warren, registering two more reverse clearances as he opened up a 7-0 lead.

Much to Warren’s credit, though, he claimed frame eight to avoid the whitewash, but Brennan was back in the next frame with a break clearance to record an 8-1 win.
