2022 Ultimate Pool Masters to Break Off

Shane Thompson and Clint I’Anson are set to headline the opening week of the 2022/23 Ultimate Pool Masters, with the second edition of the event set to begin on the evening of Wednesday 6th July exclusively live on ultimatepool.tv.

Phil Harrison won the inaugural edition of the Masters in the summer of 2021 after a memorable 6-red shootout victory over Simon Fitzsimmons in the final.

Now, the tournament is back and better than ever in 2022/23 as the field expands to 128 players and it becomes a professional ranking event for the first time.

The bumper competition will now take place on Wednesday nights across 40 weeks before an eight-player Finals Day will decide the champion and recipient of a £10,000 top prize.

The action is live and exclusive on ultimatepool.tv throughout. Don’t miss out on the action, subscribe to ultimatepool.tv for your weekly Masters fix.

Format and Players Involved

A different format to the recently completed Champions League, the Masters will once again have a more traditional matchplay feel to proceedings, with a straight knockout, longer match schedule featuring the popular 4-2-1 format for the opening two phases.

Full format details can be found here

Week one of the competition will see professional number one Thompson take to the arena in Newcastle-under-Lyme and face amateur Callum Kendall in round one. I’Anson - winner of many big titles over the past several years – has a tough assignment against Richard Twomey. The two winners will then meet in the ‘group’ final with the winner progressing to the last 32 phase.

Almost all Ultimate Pool professionals have entered, including Michael Hill, Gareth Potts, Chris Melling, Tom Cousins, Jordan Shepherd, Karl Boyes and many, many more of the sport’s top and most exciting names.
